Available now in the iTunes App Store is the official Image Comics app for the iPhone, iPad and iPod touch devices. Developed by digital comics leader comiXology -- makers of the official Marvel and DC Comics apps -- the Image Comics app would appear to not only offer fans access to digital versions of popular Image titles, but also creators access to the emerging digital comics market.

"With the launch of the Image Comics app, we have an opportunity to provide our creators with the digital support that, for many of them, was unattainable before," said Image Publisher Eric Stephenson in a statement.

comiXology CEO David Steinberger shares the creator-focused sentiment, saying, "Our partnership with Image is indicative of our shared vision to help independent creators thrive in the traditional print community as well as the explosive digital marketplace. "

Products currently available in the digital Image Comics store include issues of "Savage Dragon", "Chew", "Battle Pope", "Youngblood" and "Haunt", among others. Prices for new issues of in-progress series are $1.99, with archived stories -- like issues of "The Walking Dead" and "Invincible" -- available for $0.99 or in some cases for free.
