Fans of the Dark Knight will hopefully get to see some sweet arm-breaking, grappling hook-firing and hanging-scumbags-off-of-gargoyles-ing live and in person next year, when the world arena tour of Batman Live begins in Europe. Unlike the stage productions of some other superheroes, Batman Live is not a Broadway musical but rather what we suspect is a big budget, Vegas-style evolution of the Batman stunt shows American audiences have been enjoying at Six Flags theme parks for many years. The production will come to North America in 2012.

Opening in Manchester on 20th July 2011 and visiting Newcastle, Glasgow, Sheffield, Birmingham, London, Liverpool, Nottingham, Dublin and Belfast, tickets for Batman Live go on sale on Friday, November 12, 2010.Batman Live is a visually stunning production, complete with a brand new original storyline. The live show will feature Batman, his trusty counterpart Robin, tireless butler Alfred and a host of other favourite Batman characters, including villains such as The Joker, The Riddler, Catwoman and The Penguin. The story will take place in several settings from the famed DC Comics stories, including Gotham City, Wayne Manor, the Batcave and Arkham Asylum.

Batman Live is a joint venture between DC Entertainment, Warner Bros. Consumer Products and Water Lane Productions, whose Nick Lane stressed the show is not a musical. DC Comics Co-Publisher Jim Lee threw in his support, saying, "Batman Live will bring a completely new experience to fans of the character - it's great to be able to give them something they haven't seen before."

Tickets for 2011 performances in the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland go on sale this Friday, November 12.
