‘Thor’ Film Stars to Voice Characters in ‘God of Thunder’ Video Game

Although it seemed like a foregone conclusion, it's still cool to get official word that Chris Hemsworth and Tom Hiddleston, the stars of Marvel Studios' forthcoming feature film Thor, will reprise their respective roles as Thor and Loki in SEGA's Thor: God of Thunder video game. On sale in spring 2011 and featuring a story devised with the input of Thor comic book writer Matt Fraction, the game will feature both the likenesses and voices of both actors.

"Bringing in Chris and Tom to star in Thor: God of Thunder gives us AAA talent that will create a truly cinematic interactive experience," said Gary Knight, Senior Vice President of Marketing at SEGA Europe and SEGA of America. "Mighty Thor and the trickster Loki will face off with real emotion while giving fans visual and vocal continuity between the video game and film adaptations of the Marvel franchise."

Matt Fraction previously worked with SEGA on a similarly continuity-straddling project, the company's Iron Man 2 video game.

Word of Thor: God of Thunder first came back in July, when it was announced that SEGA was developing a game that would take players through the Nine Worlds of Norse mythology. The latest press release confirms that enemies will include Ulik, Ymir and Surtur, and that the game will be available on all the major platforms.

Directed by Kenneth Brannagh, Hemsworth and Hiddleston's Thor movie opens in U.S. cinemas next May.
