M.O.D.O.K. fans have been privy to a number of the mental organism's designs since his 1967 debut, but a few elements of AIM's construction have remained constant: a bad bowl cut and butt rocket propulsion. Well True Believers, it seems Marvel's made a few changes. After a few weeks of teasing, a balder, more spider-legged 'DOK rocking a look designed by artist Gabriel Hardman with help from writer Jeff Parker and editor Mark Paniccia will premier in the pages of February's Hulk #29.The new M.O.D.O.K.'s mechanical teasers had fans pondering the possibility of everything from alien invaders to some kind of new Spider-Man armor, but now it seems the suit was designed to carry a new M.O.D.O.K. model that Parker calls, "...a bit of a charmer."

Hardman himself summed up the design thusly at Marvel.com:

"Mark [Paniccia, HULK editor] and Jeff [Parker] asked me to take a crack at it," said Hardman. "Jeff had some specifics he wanted to integrate, specifically the legs and bald head. My design process was to go back through the previous iterations of M.O.D.O.K.'s look to get a feel for the choices other artists had made over the years. But I mainly focused on his early appearances. Anytime I design something for Marvel, I want it to feel like it could fit into the world Jack Kirby designed, even if it has more contemporary industrial design elements."

So maybe the butt rocket's still under there somewhere?
