Our friends at Asylum UK went down to the Shaftsbury theatre in London's West End where the upcoming productionof 'Batman Live' was holding open auditions for the roles of Batman, Robin, Catwoman, the Joker and Harley Quinn. What they found was 2000 hopeful auditionees radiating with the kind of heart-felt sincere enthusiasm that we ourselves can barely muster for anything anymore -- the kind of enthusiasm of which the world needs more.

Amongst the homemade Batman outfits and Drama students, they found John -- a budding Robin from Leeds who'd set off at 3am from his home in Pontefract in West Yorkshire for his chance to play the caped crusader's sidekick. This is his moving story.
