Despite the fact that I love to eat, I've never been much of a chef, a failing I blame solely on the fact that there are very few cookbooks that involve Batman. Fortunately for me, the foodies at Saveur.com have decided to reach out my particular market by recruiting a few of my favorite webcomics creators to illustrate step-by-step instructions on how to create delicious meals and cocktails. Not only does the marriage of words and pictures provided by comics make the recipes easy to read, but a few of them go so far as to provide actual storylines that run through the creation of a dish! Check out a few of our favorites by Anthony Clark, Christopher Hastings, Carly Monardo, Ryan North, David Malki! and more after the cut!First up, Nedroid creator Anthony Clark solves the three problems I'm faced with most often in my life: Being hungry for potato wedges, needing to party constantly and having a surplus of potatoes that are as large as a mid-sized Volkswagen. And you thought proficiency with a broadsword wouldn't come in handy in the kitchen:

For a trio of cocktails built around ginger, The Adventures of Dr. McNinja's own Christopher Hastings weaves an epic adventure story that combines the best parts of Conan the Barbarian, The Legend of Zelda and getting drunk. In that respect, it's a lot like most weekends from my early 20s.

On the opposite end of the spectrum, Dinosaur Comics creator Ryan North keeps things to his surprisingly versatile six-panel template, and still manages to include both a recipe and a condensed guide to manliness. Plus, like all great recipes, it leaves room for experimentation. You could, for instance, spend the hour in which you cook the chili by growing a full beard, or wrestling a bear that you will then befriend through the magic of a hearty meal.

Carly Monardo, one of the creators of the CA-favorite Strong Female Characters, goes all out with her contribution, offering up memories of unsatisfying egg dishes, three different recipes, and a panel sure to please the anthropomorphic egg fetishists in the crowd. What? Don't act like they're not out there.

Of all the recipes Saveur has put up so far, the one by Wondermark creator David Malki! is far and away my favorite. It sounds delicious, the story he tells is genuinely touching and a little heartbreaking, and the ending... well, just read it:

Seriously, like a sudden left hook of comedy that hits you right in mid "awww."

These five recipes may have given you a full meal, complete with hors d'oeuvre, salad, entree, side dish and cocktail, but they aren't the only ones Saveur has on their menu. Check out the Recipe Comix page for more, including a peppy cocktail from A Softer World's Emily Horne and a fantastic autobiographical comic from Eli Valley that culminates in the two recipes that even I don't need, but loved reading anyway.
