Marvel Comics announced this week that Daniel Acuña will be the new ongoing Avengers artist beginning with October's issue #18. Written by Brian Michael Bendis and launched in 2010, Avengers, one of Marvel's flagship titles, has been illustrated primarily by John Romita, Jr. and Chris Bachalo. Readers will no doubt be sad to see them go, but Acuña, who also creates cover's for Marvel's FF, is a great talent whose work we're looking forward to seeing on a more regular basis. Acuña and Bendis previously worked together on New Avengers.

Read on for some beautiful preview pages of Daniel Acuna's work on Avengers #18."Every time Daniel and I have worked together it has been a really fantastic experience and everyone loved it," said Bendis in a press release. "The only thing we have never done before is hunker down and make a real run of things together. So here we go!"

"As an artist and as a professional, I am extremely happy to be working with Brian again," said Acuña. "And come on, drawing the Avengers? They RULE! Aside from being the best, most charismatic team in comics – they always fight the biggest, meanest, and most powerful villains. All that, plus Captain America leading the team... what more can I ask for?!"

On sale in comics stores everywhere on October 19, Avengers #18 will detail the team's search for new members following the events of Fear Itself.
