Archaia’s ‘The Storyteller’ Honors Jim Henson with Top Talents [Preview]

On sale this week from Archaia is Jim Henson's The Storyteller Volume 1, a new hardcover anthology based on the Jim Henson television series of the 1980s and early 1990s. Created in full cooperation with the Jim Henson Company, the book features all-new comics by a veritable who's who of fan-favorite creaotrs like Katie Cook, Colleen Coover, Chris Eliopoulos, Roger Langridge, Marjorie Liu, Jeff Parker, Paul Tobin, Tom Fowler, Mike Maihack and Evan Shaner, among others. Like the cult favorite show, each story adapts with so small amount of wit and charm legends, myths and folk tales from cultures all over the world, with each one introduced by the eponymous storyteller and his incredulous companion, that talking dog.

I've read Archaia's The Storyteller and like the publisher's other Henson co-productions, the book is in keeping with the late Muppet master's aesthetic values. Many of the stories contained will be familiar to you as they're the sort of tales we were told as children, but the real treat of The Storyteller is seeing so many of our favorite writers and artists together in the same handsome volume.
