Admit it: When you watched the pilot episode from AMC's adaptation of Robert Kirkman, Tony Moore and Charlie Adlard's The Walking Dead, you kept thinking to yourself "You know, this looks really weird with all the color. Why couldn't it have been in black and white like the original Night of the Living Dead influenced comic?" Apparently, someone at AMC thought the same thing, and so next month will bring the debut of a special black and white version of the pilot as part of a two-day TWD marathon. The desaturated version of the first hour of the hit show will be the climax of AMC's July two-day special marathon of the show to date, which will include not just all 19 episodes of the show so far, but also a special edition of Chris Hardwick's Talking Dead chatshow that'll include sneak peak at a scene from the show's third season. Each of the re-run episodes will also be introduced by Hardwick from the set of the show, and be followed by behind-the-scenes footage or interviews with the show's cast and creators.

The marathon will begin at 11:30 a.m. on July 7 and 8, the weekend before this year's San Diego Comic-Con International, ensuring that the undead will be suitably pumped up enough to get through that event's Walking Dead Escape assault course in one piece and still be around for the show's third season to begin this October. Well, hopefully.
