It's the team-up that fans waited ten seasons of Smallville for in vain... and it's finally happening in DC's spin-off Smallville Season 11 digital comic: Clark Kent and Bruce Wayne - Together again for the first time... again!Smallville Season 11 writer Bryan Q. Miller spilled the bat-beans over on his blog, explaining that "as both a fan and a writer, I am more than pleased to announce the arrival of a MAJOR DC universe player in the second episode of Smallville Season 11" before sharing the official solicitation for #5 of the print edition, which includes the following tease:

The hunt for his parents' killer puts a vigilante known only as "the BATMAN" on a collision course with The Man of Steel...

CA's noted "Smallvillains" Chris Sims and David Uzumeri are... likely apprehensive about whether or not they'll get this momentous meeting right.

"Fans have been waiting for this for a VERY long time," Miller wrote, in something of an understatement; Bruce Wayne's appearance in the Smallville continuity had been teased since Adam Knight showed up in the third season of the show way back in 2003 acting very much like a future Dark Knight, even though producers have since claimed that any similarity to Bruce Wayne (You know, like his being a brooding orphan with amazing martial arts skills and hacking chops) was a complete coincidence. Presumably in the same way that any similarity between Captain Marvel and Marvelman is a complete coincidence...

Smallville Season 11 #5, the first part of "Detective" by Miller and artists Chriscross and Marc Deering, will be released in September. The story will debut first as a digital comic in August.
