Comic creator and Dr. Sketchy's Anti-Art School founder Molly Crabapple has been arrested as part of today's protests in New York City celebrating the first anniversary of the Occupy Wall Street movement. Her arrest -- one of many at the time, something that writer Warren Ellis has described as "NYPD insist[ing] everyone get on the pavement, and once they were on the pavement they were arrested" -- was announced on Twitter, with Crabapple tweeting the arresting officer's details and adding that she "can't wait to draw this."

Quickly, the hashtag #freemollycrabapple appeared on Twitter in reaction to the news, leading Ellis to point out that Crabapple -- who apparently was able to tweet at least until being in the police van with other protestors -- would've been able to witness as it happened.

The New York Daily News claims that more than 125 people were arrested by the NYPD today, although that number may be closer to 70 according to other reports. The NYPD itself has not confirmed a number as of writing.
