Hasbro's burgeoning KRE-O line of building toys has been a boon to Transformers fans seeking a Lego-like experience for their favorite robots in disguise, but fans of the toy company's most iconic military action figure brand have had to content themselves with toys based on... well, that Battleship movie. That's all about to change, though, with Hasbro teasing new G.I. Joe KRE-O sets arriving in stores in February. It's not exactly clear if the KRE-O homage to Herb Trimpe's G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero #1 cover means that the line will be based mainly on the 1982 line of 3.75" action figures and its associated animated series and comics, but considering how many incarnations of the series exist, a general line seems like it'd gel just fine with the rest of the company's upcoming G.I. Joe: Retaliation (which opens on March 29) plans. The current Transformers KRE-O line incorporates all kinds of elements from throughout that brand's history, so it'll be interesting to see just what approach Hasbro leads with when the line is showcased at the company's NYCC Preview event next week.
