ABC’s ‘SHIELD’ Casts Two New, Young Agents
And now, the identities of two more agents of SHIELD have been declassified as ABC announces two new additions to the cast of the Joss Whedon-created Avengers television spin-off project.According to the Hollywood Reporter, newcomers Elizabeth Henstridge and Iain De Caestecker have joined the Whedon-directed and co-scripted ABC pilot, joining the previously-announced Ming-Na Wen and Clark Gregg. Henstridge will take the role of Agent Gemma Simmons, with De Caestecker playing Agent Leo Fitz; the two will apparently "spend all their time together -- mostly bickering -- and are masters at a remarkably young age of their respective fields" according to the Reporter (Those fields are science and technology, respectively; now you see why the two would spend so much time together).
The pilot is expected to shoot early next year, from a script co-written by the Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog team of Whedon, his brother Jed and Maurissa Tancheroen. The three have also worked together on the short-lived Dollhouse for Fox.
