We’re still not over the loss of Marvel’s Agent Carter, even as those rescue hashtags and petitions seem to lose steam, but worse is the knowledge what we might have had. Following her take on Captain America’s new relationships, Hayley Atwell reveals what family secrets Season 3 might have unveiled, as well Peggy’s own cloudy history.

Among the myriad details discussed from Atwell’s appearance at MegaCon in Orlando, Florida over the weekend, the Agent Carter star teased that a prospective third season would likely pick up some of the family threads we saw in Season 2. Whether that means a trip to England from Peggy’s new Los Angeles home remains unclear, but says Atwell (via Entertainment Weekly):

There was talk of season 3 of going further back into her past. So the showrunners were talking about a possible kind of twist, I suppose, into something to do with the family … They suggested there would be more to do with my brother. So that’s all I can say.

That would certainly gel with some of Season 2's unresolved plot points, as SSR Chief Thompson’s inquiry into Peggy’s war record yielded some surprising results, that Peggy herself seemed apprehensive about their release. It would also stand to reason to explore Peggy’s family further, given the familial connection we know emerged during the events of Captain America: Civil War.

Of course, Atwell also joked that she’d love to get deeper into the creator of S.H.I.E.L.D. with an Agent Carter movie, but we’ll settle for perhaps an arc in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 4, should it come to that. From what we’ve heard, would Season 3 have been worth the return?
