Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD. acknowledged a bitter truth with Coulson’s recent reference that so many great Agent Carter stories would go unrecorded, but Hayley Atwell seems to have taken that challenge literally. Peggy may not return to live-action just yet, but S.H.I.E.L.D.’s founder will return to voiceover in a new animated Avengers: Secret Wars role.

Via ComicBook.com, Hayley Atwell will take a break from her ABC Conviction role to reprise the part of Peggy Carter in an upcoming episode of Marvel’s animated Avengers: Secret Wars. The outing in question will see Atwell’s Peggy teaming with Howard Stark, Iron Man and Captain America to combat the threat of Kang the Conqueror.

For those unaware, Marvel’s Avengers: Secret Wars represents Season 4 of Disney XD’s animated Avengers Assemble, which now features the likes of Black Panther, Vision, Captain Marvel, Ms. Marvel, The Wasp, Ant-Man, and Jane Foster’s Thor. Marvel also took the weekend to announce that its Ultimate Spider-Man series would transition to a new series in 2017, ostensibly to support the new Spider-Man: Homecoming.

It’s still plausible that Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 4 might offer live-action closure to Agent Carter, but does an animated appearance smooth the transition?
