Amazon's been testing a lot of different ideas, including digital comics, with its new publishing wing. Now, it seems that the online retail giant is really committing to the format.  This morning, Amazon announced the formation of Jet City, a sci-fi/fantasy comics imprint, and the launch of Symposium, a "sidequest comic" that ties in to the Foreworld series.

The first issue of the series by Christian Cameron and Dmitry Bondarenko, which follows Greek soldiers once they return home from war and try to figure out what to do with themselves, is available now for 99 cents via Kindle. Other comics soon to come from the imprint include an adaptation of Game of Thrones author George R.R. Martin's short story "Meathouse Manillustrated by Raya Golden; prequels to Martin's Song of Ice and Fire series titled "The Hedge Knight" and "The Sworn Sword" by Ben Avery and Mike S. Miller; and and adaptation of author Hugh Howey's novel Wool by Jimmy Palmiotti, Justin Gray, and illustrator Jimmy Broxton.
