Over the past week, Aquaman’s casting has really started to take shape, with Nicole Kidman and The Get Down’s Yahya Abdul-Mateen II in talks to join Jason Momoa in the new superhero film from director James Wan. You can add another interesting name to the list of potential stars, as Temuera Morrison (best known to certain fans as Jango Fett) is also in talks to play a key role.

According to THR, Morrison is being eyed for the role of Aquaman’s human father. If cast, he’d play dad to Jason Momoa’s titular hero; Kidman is currently in talks to play the role of his mother, Queen Atlanna, who resides in the underwater kingdom of Atlantis. Yahya Abdul-Mateen II is in talks to play the role of villain Black Manta.

So far, the only confirmed stars are Momoa (who made his Aquaman debut with a brief cameo in Batman v Superman), Amber Heard, Willem Dafoe and Patrick Wilson. Heard is set to play Aquaman love interest Mera; Dafoe is Dr. Vulko, an ally and scientist; and Wilson is Aquaman’s villainous half-brother Orm. (Wilson previously worked with Wan on the Conjuring films and the first two Insidious chapters.)

As for Morrison, the New Zealand actor recently lent his voice to Disney’s animated hit Moana as the titular character’s father, and provided the voice of Boba Fett in 2015’s Star Wars: Battlefront game.

Aquaman is set to hit theaters on October 5, 2018.
