‘Archie & Friends’ Goes ‘Twilite’ in August

Archie Comics made something of a splash with the announcement that they’d be paying tribute to both Vampirella and Buffy the Vampire Slayer in their digital “Betty the Vampire Slayer vs. Vampironica” story this summer, but it seems that’s just a portion of their overall bloodsucker imbued output. A little bit of Forks is coming to Riverdale with a “Twilight” parody in August’s “Archie & Friends” #146 and Archie’s got a “New Moon” movie poster parody to match.

Here’s Archie Comics’ official synopsis for part one of the two-part story entitled “Twilite.”

It’s love at first bite when two new students arrive in Riverdale. Betty and Veronica are fascinated by the smoldering-hot Ivan, but Jarred is warning everyone who’ll listen that Ivan is really a vampire! Reggie volunteers to help Jarred expose Ivan as a bloodsucker, but love–or maybe Ivan–is clouding the girls’ judgment. Can the girls be saved before romance sinks its teeth in?

The issue’s August release date is a timely one considering Dark Horse’s own “New Moon” style “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” #36 cover will follow it in September. You can see the full cover image after the jump.
