Arrow will celebrate a number of milestones in Season 5, not only the completion of its five-year flashback cycle, but also its 100th episode early on. Said centennial will serendipitously fall during the big four-way crossover, and the hour’s choice of director suggests we’ll see the most action-heavy Arrow yet.

Arrow stunt coordinator and director James Bamford confirmed over Twitter that he’d helm the eighth episode of Season 5, having previously directed the first and second episodes of the new season. Stephen Amell previously described Bamford’s premiere work as having “the most vicious, violent one-er shot in the history of network television.”

Executive producer Marc Guggenheim also shared the title page (with the episode name blacked out):

Apart from the distinction of directing Arrow’s 100th episode, the hour will mark the second leg of the big four-way crossover after The Flash (Supergirl will set things up, but isn’t considered part of the main event). As such, Bamford might have been called upon for some of the series’ most impressive stuntwork to date.

In addition to The Wire star Chad Coleman taking the role of new baddie Tobias Church, alongside flashback villain Dolph Lundgren, wayward vigilantism appears to be a major theme for Arrow Season 5, following the return of Madison McLaughlin as a new Artemis, as well additions of Wil Traval’s Human Target, Rick Gonzalez’s Wild Dog, and Josh Segarra’s “Vigilante.” Carly Pope has also joined in a recurring role as a Coast City reporter, with a comic attachment to Green Lantern, while former WWE wrestler Stardust will also put in an appearance.

We’ll likely hear more of Arrow Season 5 soon, but check out the first trailers and photos below.
