Arrow Season 5 has gone on a tear of adding new heroes and villains, but lost in the shuffle has been Echo Kellum’s Terrific promotion of Curtis Holt to series regular. The Arrow bunker will feel plenty crowded this fall, but what role might Kellum’s Holt end up playing, especially after Felicity’s big change this season?

Felicity’s place on #TeamArrow seems especially tenuous after Season 4, between her fraught relationship with Oliver, as well the back-and-forth position of Palmer Tech CEO, thought Curtis certainly seemed poised to fill Felicity’s role as resident hacker, including eyes and ears. Not so, apparently, as a new TVLine report with EP Wendy Mericle likens Kellum’s Season 5 role to that of The Flash favorite Cisco Ramon, constructing tech moreso than seated behind a monitor:

Essentially, if [Felicity]’s software, he’s hardware. As he evolves into becoming Mr. Terrific in Season 5, one of the things we’re really exploring is differentiating them by having Curtis be more like Cisco on The Flash. We want him to be a bit more hands-on, a little more about building physical tech.

Season 4 already established both the comic “T-Sphere” and Holt’s Olympic prowess, so it might make sense that physical tech brings Curtis closer to his literary origins as an outright superhero, but are Mericle’s words confirmation?

Elsewhere of Season 5, we know Stephen Amell has also downplayed the likelihood of The Flash’s time-turning twist affecting any Arrow chronology, while the premiere will bring both a modified costume and “the most vicious, violent one-er shot in the history of network television.” Additionally, Colton Haynes will reportedly return as Roy Harper for a number of episodes.

In addition to The Wire star Chad Coleman taking the role of new baddie Tobias Church, wayward vigilantism appears to be a major theme for Arrow Season 5, following the return of Madison McLaughlin as a new Artemis, as well additions of Rick Gonzalez’s Wild Dog, and Josh Segarra’s “Vigilante.”

We’ll likely hear more of Arrow Season 5 on the road to Comic-Con 2016, but what other heroes and villains should we expect?
