Among the myriad questions Arrow Season 5 still has to answer in 2017, the mystery of Prometheus’ identity may take us to a previously-inaccessible corner of the Batman universe. We know we’ll finally meet Ra’s al Ghul’s daughter Talia, but what might she have to do with the newest big bad to Star City? Allow producers to explain:

A wide-ranging 2017 preview from TVLine touched in on the fifth season of Arrow, which – spoiler alert – declined to identify Prometheus outright in winter finale “What We Leave Behind,” though at least one or two candidates may have been swept off the board. Instead, it seems Oliver may run afoul of Nyssa’s half-sister Talia (Stargate alum Lexa Doig), who has some connection to the masked villain (Bane flashbacks, anyone?):

That, coupled with the question of the Big Bad’s identity, “is a gift that keeps on giving for the rest of the season,” says [EP Wendy Mericle] … Among new faces, Talia al Ghul plays a “crucial part” in unraveling the Prometheus mystery, while SCPD Detective Tina Boland will form a connection with Oliver, seeing as “she has been through her own hell, her own sort of ‘island.’”

Thus far of Prometheus’ identity, we know only that the villain was implied to be the son of Justin Claybourne, a pharmaceutical CEO killed during Oliver’s early career as the murderous “Hood.” The figure then spent five years training to seek revenge on Oliver, so might Talia al Ghul have aided in said training, just as Nyssa and the League of Assassins once trained Sara?

We’ll find out more when Arrow returns January 25 with “Who Are You?”, the trailer for which you can find below.
