‘Avengers: Age Of Ultron’ Concept Art Shows Scarlet Witch, Quicksilver And Hulkbuster Iron Man In Action
Tonight’s Marvel Studios: Assembling a Universe special didn’t blow too many minds as it preempted Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., but the hourlong Marvel
movie commercial special did succeed in revealing concept art of two characters fans have been waiting to see for awhile. Get a look at Scarlet Witch (played by Elizabeth Olsen) and Quicksilver‘s (played by Aaron Johnson) potential costume designs from Avengers: Age of Ultron — plus Iron Man battling the Hulk in his Hulkbuster armor — after the cut.
From the looks of things, Marvel Studios’ designs for the new characters and costumes seem in line with the overall approach it’s been taking thus far. Scarlet Witch is wearing something less costume-y and more street clothes-y than her comic book counterpart, but Quicksilver seems content to speed around in a simple blue suit that looks kind of like Captain America’s The Avengers attire stripped of all its red, white (but not blue) bells and whistles. Whatever the case, this Quicksilver looks WAY better than that goofy wigged cyberpunk X-Men: Days of Future Past version.
Hulkbuster Iron Man, like many of the Iron Man movie armors, seems pulled straight from the pages of the comics, right down to his modular components. No reason is given for his fight with the Hulk, but maybe it’s some kind of fakeout? Perhaps the concept art is merely teasing something like a friendly wrestling match? Given how open Bruce Banner has been to the idea of counteracting the Hulk should he lose control in the comics, it’s a decent possibility.
No sign of Paul Bettany as The Vision, just yet, but we know James Spader’s Ultron will kind of look like what was seen in the initial Avengers 2 teaser at SDCC 2013.
Avengers: Age of Ultron is out May 1, 2015.
