Marvel's Comic-Con trailer for its 2012 "The Avengers" film may have been wiped from YouTube not long after it leaked online, but that doesn't mean there's not plenty of material still floating around the Web...especially if you're willing to settle for a little less-than-official footage and a lot of creative editing.

Take YouTube user whoiseyevan's "Premakes: The Avengers," a three minute video collage combining '50s approximations of Earth's Mightiest Heroes for a faux film homage that proves just how timeless some superhero concepts truly are:

Lost in the annals of time and space, comes this magnificent motion picture of epic proportions. Taking a page from such horror classics as "Frankenstein Meets the Wolfman" and "House of Frankenstein," Timely Atlas Studios (the precursor to Marvel Studios), created the first superhero movie team-up. "The Avengers" featured an awesome array of characters such as Captain America, Thor, and Iron Man in a larger-than-life battle against evil aliens from the planet Skrull.
