Batman Live
just got some serious superhero writing cred. Today Warner Bros. Consumer Products, DC Entertainment and Water Lane Productions Ltd. announced that Allan Heinberg (Young Avengers, Wonder Woman), Stan Berkowitz (the animated The Batman, Justice League) and Alan Burnett (Batman: Mask of the Phantasm, Green Lantern: First Flight), have been tapped to script the action show's original story, which focuses on Dick Grayson's transformation into Robin. The trio of Heinberg, Berkowitz and Burnett is kind of astonishing considering the miserable failure seeming reluctance of SPIDER-MAN: TURN OFF THE DARK! a certain other live show to capitalize on experienced, comics-savvy talent. Each of these guys could choke several digital horses with their superhero-stocked IMDB resumes.

From the official Batman Live press release:

Allan Heinberg said: "I am delighted to be joining a team as committed to delivering an unparalleled visual spectacle, as they are to telling a compelling, emotional story. BATMAN LIVE is lovingly faithful to the characters and their distinguished history and it provides a unique opportunity for new and lifelong fans to experience Batman and his world as they never have before."

Scheduled to tour through the UK and Europe from July through October, North American fans are still waiting on dates (and making arrangements to borrow their younger relatives for an excuse to attend the all-ages show). Considering how impressive its set designs, music and casting escapades have been thus far, our inner 7-year-olds are having a hard time waiting to see more.
