The DC Universe Animated Original Movies haven't shied away from tapping into established comic book lore with adaptations of "Justice League: The New Frontier" and "Superman/Batman: Public Enemies," and for an upcoming project, one rumor states that another popular comic book run is following suit.

Frank Miller and David Mazzucchilli's "Batman: Year One" is the project in question, according to Comics Continuum. The website cites anonymous sources stating that "Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Two Earths" co-director Sam Liu would helm the "Year One" adaptation. Warner Bros. has not confirmed the film's existence.

Although it should be considered a rumor for the time being, a "Batman: Year One" animated film could be quite interesting. The question is, would the dark tone remain intact? Would the typically pristine Jim Gordon cheat on his wife? Could they really make Catwoman a prostitute? Inquiring minds want to know!

What do you think -- could a "Batman: Year One" animated movie preserve the story's mature nature?[Via ComicsContinuum]
