Filming for Captain America: The Winter Soldier is underway as we speak in beautiful Cleveland, Ohio, and thanks to the Plain Dealer, we now have a look at Cap himself -- or at least a reasonable approximation in the form of a stuntman in full costume. The pictures, taken during the filming of a chase scene, have revealed that Steve Rogers is going to be rocking a new super soldier suit when the movie comes out next year.

Unlike Captain America: The First Avenger and The Avengers, which both went with a version of the costume inspired by Captain America's regular red-white-and-blue uniform, Winter Soldier seems to be opting for a more toned-down version -- at least for the duration of a chase scene over Cleveland's Lorain Avenue bridge.

The suit seems to be mostly inspired by the "Commander Steve Rogers" getup that Cap wore when he was in charge of S.H.I.E.L.D. a while back in comics by Ed Brubaker and Dale Eaglesham, right down to the more utilitarian brown gloves and belt:

Given the events that led to that costume and how Winter Soldier is heavily based on Brubaker and Steve Epting's story of the same name, I'm wondering just how much ground they're planning to cover in this movie. Then again, it might just be a chance to get him into another action-figure friendly outfit. Personally, I hope it shows up in the toy aisle as "Cleveland Assault Captain America!" I'd buy it.

Either way, it's nice that he's still got the shield:
