Just in time for Halloween, Dark Horse has released a five-page preview of next year's Hellboy: Into the Silent Sea, which offers plenty of atmosphere and a devil in a black dress.

With Should I Be Reading… ?, ComicsAlliance hopes to offer you a guide to some of the best original ongoing comics being published today. An idea comic for those interested in witches, haints, and the darkness of small Southern towns, Harrow County tells the story of a young witch who died and was born again, and all the creatures she can command, and all the darkness she can --- but chooses not to --- unleash.

Hellboy: The Corpse is a perfect comic book. Originally published in two-page installments back in 1995, it's of the best stories in Mike Mignola's considerable catalogue, and still stands over 20 years later as the single greatest Hellboy short. It's a great introduction to Hellboy and his world, action packed and full of a moody atmosphere that's spooky without being scary, built on the foundation of half-remembered folktales and Jack Kirby monster comics; but more than that, it's an incredible example of craftsmanship and accessibility. And it all starts with Hellboy fighting a baby.

When thinking about favorite monsters, I wanted to go to one of the biggest, most uncontrollable and terrifying concepts that have ever hit the comics page. Dinosaurs and demons are all well and good, but they offer a threat that doesn’t dig deep beneath the skin.
