The golden age of the costume hoodie seems to be drawing toward its inevitable decline as one manufacturer embraces what may very well be the future of more-casual-than-but-also-maybe-more-intense-than-cosplay superhero fashion: Costume backpacks. Leading the way in this potential timeline are Batman and Wonder Woman'packs manufactured by BioWorld Merchandising, known for producing novelty apparel like belt buckles, t-shirts and the aforementioned costume hoodies based on scads of major pop culture properties.
Eyewear designers Warby Parker released two new Superman-inspired frames to tie-in with the release of Man of Steel last weekend. Warby Parker designs eyewear with both style and affordability in mind, and the "Chamberlain" and "Percey" frames in the Man of Steel collection are no exception. With subtle red/blue detailing on the temples, these bold retro frames are fit for both men and women who are looking to add a dash of Daily Planet to their faces at $95 each (including prescription lenses) -- $15 of which will be donated to 826NYC, a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting students ages 6-18 with their writing skills.
In honor of the 20th anniversary of Sailor Moon, Bandai's cosmetics line Creer Beaute announced the release of cosmetics inspired by Usagi Tsukino (aka Serena, if you grew up with the dubbed series). Creer Beaute's Miracle Romance Shining Moon Powder appears to be both a blush and an illuminating powder, and is encased in a compact that closely resembles Sailor Moon's Crystal Star Transformation Brooch. The compact also doubles as a necklace for those of you who want to channel your inner magical girl without having to sacrifice $100+ on vintage Sailor Moon toys on eBay. The compact is currently available for pre-order for ¥3980 (approximately $41) on Bandai, and will ship in Fall 2013.
