Sith Happens: Gillen and Aaron Talk Up ‘Vader Down’ [Interview]

Star_Wars_Vader_Down-feat

Darth Vader — the most dangerous man in the galaxy — crashes on an alien planet and the entirety of the Rebel forces will stop at nothing to take him out. That's the pitch for "Vader Down," the new story coming this fall to both the Darth Vader and Star Wars comic series from Marvel. Announced during Saturday's Cup O' Joe panel from Marvel chief creative officer Joe Quesada, the six-part crossover kicks off in its own giant-sized #1 issue and then continues across the two titles, with art from Mike Deodato and Salvador Larroca and covers by Mark Brooks.

ComicsAlliance chatted with 'Vader Down' writers Kieron Gillen and Jason Aaron about what makes Vader tick; the promise of sweet, sweet droid fights; and the mechanics of lining up the crossover the galaxy has been waiting for.

Spider-Man_Deadpool_feat

It's been 18 years (that's right, 18 years) since Joe Kelly and Ed McGuinness first teamed up on Deadpool back in 1997. A lot (and I mean a lot) of Deadpool comics have been published since then, but for many fans who read that original run, Kelly and McGuinness are still the definitive Deadpool team.

Those fans can now officially rejoice: Marvel announced at San Diego Comic-Con on Sunday that Kelly and McGuinness are teaming up again to pair Deadpool with another Marvel favorite, Spider-Man, in this fall's Spider-Man/Deadpool.

Tim Seeley and Logan Faerber Focus On Blade’s Daughter In New Series

blade-feat

You know Blade, right? He's the Daywalker, a vampire hunter with some vampiric abilities of his own. Grew up in a brothel. Hunted Dracula. Hung out with Dr. Strange a lot. Well, rethink all that, because Marvel has announced a new series at San Diego Comic-Con from writer Tim Seeley and artist Logan Faerber, which presents Eric Brooks in a whole new way: through his daughter.

That's right, Blade has a daughter, and she'll be a big part of the focus of the new series, as she and her dad will apparently go on some macabre adventures together.

She Has A New Hat: North, Henderson and Moss Talk the New ‘Unbeatable Squirrel Girl’ #1 [Exclusive]

SQGIRL-feat

It feels like just a few short months ago that Marvel's series Unbeatable Squirrel Girl by writer Ryan North and artist Erica Henderson launched to near-universal acclaim and widespread popularity. That's because it was just a few months ago. It launched in January.

But hey, guess what? As revealed on Sunday at the Women of Marvel panel at San Diego Comic-Con, the series is starting anew in October! But don't worry; it'll look much the same as it did. The creative team will still be there, editor Wil Moss will still be steering the ship, and all your favorite characters will stick around!

So what's changing, besides Squirrel Girl now being a card-carrying member of the Avengers? We talked to North, Henderson and Moss to get to the bottom of this relaunch, to ask about some of her future enemies, and to find out how similar Squirrel Girl is to the greatest work of our time, Saved by the Bell.

BatmanTMNT01

You know how every now and then, a comic book company will advertise a new series by saying something like "Because YOU demanded it," but it only delivers on that promise about half the time? Well, this weekend at Comic-Con International in San Diego, IDW and DC announced a book that I have been demanding since about 1987: Batman/Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, a six issue team-up series from writer James Tynion IV and artist Freddie E.
