Christa Faust And Gary Phillips On The True Stories Behind ‘Peepland’ [Creator Commentary]

Peepland-Featured

Titan Comics and Hard Case Crime's collaboration has already produced a number of interesting and exciting crime comics, and their flagship title Peepland is the cream of the crop. Written by Christa Faust and Gary Phillips, with art by Andrea Camerini, it's based on Faust's own personal experience of the seediest parts of Manhattan in the '80s, focusing on the peep shows of Times Squad.

With one issue available now and another out this week, Titan has provided us with a creator commentary by Faust and Phillips, describing their thought processes behind each page, including stories from Faust's life, and notes about the real life inspirations for certain characters and locations.

Writer’s Commentary: Peter Milligan on ‘The Mummy’ #1

The_Mummy_featured

Titan is launching a whole line of comics based on the Hammer Studios horror films, starting today with The Mummy #1 by Peter Milligan and Ronilson Freire. Milligan is a fascinating choice of writer for this project, best known for classic books like Shade the Changing Man and Enigma at Vertigo, and X-Statix at Marvel. Milligan writes cerebral and often surreal comics that are unlike anything else out there.

Peter Milligan has provided ComicsAlliance with an exclusive commentary for The Mummy #1. This commentary contains spoilers, so if you haven't read the issue yet, pick it up online or in stores today, and come back here for the inside line.

Showtime’s ‘Penny Dreadful’ Lives Again in 2017 Comic Continuation

Penny Dreadful Comic Series 2017
Showtime

The minds behind Showtime’s Penny Dreadful adamantly insisted they’d made the choice to end the series after Season 3, even as viewers going in had no idea they were witnessing the end. Well, it turns out they weren’t! Penny Dreadful will return in 2017 after all, at least in the form of a comic continuation that aptly reflects the series’ namesake.

Titan Comics Announces Kim Newman’s ‘Anno Dracula’ Adaptation For March 2017

Anno Dracula novel cover

Kim Newman's Anno Dracula is one of my favorite novels. It's got a great high concept built around a simple premise, set in a world where Harker, Morris, Holmwood, and Van Helsing fail to stop Dracula, who goes on to bite Queen Victoria, make her his thrall, and become Prince Consort of England.

And now, it's finally making it to comics. Titan has announced an Anno Dracula adaptation set for March of 2017, written by Newman with art by Paul McCaffrey.

Khaal#1_Featured

Space opera gets bloodier than ever in Khaal, a new Titan Comics series from writer Stephane Louis and artist Valentin Sécher. It's set aboard a dying prison ship in the depths of outer space, which is far from a hopeful setting, and the title character is the leader of the humans onboard, a brutal cross between Khal Drogo from Game of Thrones and Kratos from God of War.

Titan Plans All-New ‘Dan Dare: Pilot Of The Future’ Series For 2017 [NYCC 2016]

Dan Dare, Pilot of the Future, art by Frank Hampson

I don't know that any of us expected it, but 2016 is turning out to be a surprisingly great year for Dan Dare. Originally created in 1950 as the star of The Eagle, the erstwhile pilot of the future who dedicated his considerable skills to battling the sinister Mekon and his army of Venusian Treens seems to be undergoing a revival of sorts. Not only is there an upcoming collection of Dan Dare strips from his late-'70s tenure as a feature in 2000 AD, but Titan Comics has announced that it's going to publish an all-new Dan Dare: Pilot of the Future series in early 2017.
