Critics who thought the Veronica Mars Kickstarter campaign didn't live up to the site's spirit of funding unlikely-to-be-financed projects from otherwise unknown creators are in for an even bigger shock. If they thought Hollywood insiders using the site was bad, wait until they get a load of the new campaign from international super-terrorist organization Cobra (in association with sketch team Dumbs**t Mountain).

That's right: Cobra Commander is on Kickstarter, aiming to raise anywhere from $21.4 million (the amount listed on the campaign page) to $94 billion (the amount cited in the video) for a new Cobra Island, in the aftermath of G.I. Joe destroying it. The campaign only in draft form for now, but you can discover the appealing myriad of incentives available to backers from the video after the jump.

As you can see, there's a wide array of cool stuff available to backers: stickers, Cobra identities, a good look at Cobra Commander's face, even The Baroness fulfilling the private dreams of many a young preteen fellow.

The Kickstarter campaign puts a very different face on Cobra than the organization's recent recruitment campaign that appears to tie in to the G.I. Joe: Retaliation movie, though both aim to change public perceptions that Cobra is a terrorist organization, as they're depicted in the recent IDW G.I. Joe comics.

Perhaps a sly nod toward this effort to change Cobra's reputation is the one other Kickstarter project Cobra Commander has backed:

He's a multifaceted fellow, that Cobra Commander.
