The news that Disney is buying Marvel Comics for $4 billion dollars has swept across the internet today, and reactions among comics fans have ranged from excitement to outrage. But while details about the merger and its implications are still emerging, fans aren't the only ones reacting. Many comics pros, including writers and artists at Marvel, have been responding to the news on Twitter. Here's a cross-section of tweets from some of the biggest names in the industry:

jeffparker (Marvel writer, "Agents of Atlas"): shiz, I just woke up working for Disney

CBCebulski (Marvel Editor) Not much more I can say right now. More info coming soon. We're told it's like when Disney bought Pixar... everything Marvel stays as is.

CBCebulski From all I've heard up here these past three hours, Disney merging with Marvel is a VERY GOOD thing for us. Very positive about it all!

ivanbrandon (Writer, "Marvel Comics Presents"): my main concern is that my checks still have spider-man on them. the bank teller won't be so impressed with mickey mouse.

JoeQuesada (Marvel Editor-in-Chief):
Everybody take a deep breath, all your favorite comics remain unchanged and Tom Brevoort remains grouchy.

warrenellis (Writer, "Transmetropolitan") so I got this phone call from Joe Quesada and it was just the sound of him rubbing himself with money and now I am confusedskottieyoung (Artist, "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz"): Just got a call from Marvel, things are good and getting even better. Stop worrying, go create and let's make some comics!

DanSlott (Marvel writer, "Amazing Spider-Man"): Squirrel Girl on Toon Disney. Hey, it could happen. :) That's my one-and-only comment. Back to work...

stephenchristy (Director of Development, Devil's Due Press): Sad thing about Disney buying Marvel is that now both of the big two comic companies are owned by huge multinational corporations

rickmarshall (Editor, MTV's Splash Page): It is sort of amusing now to think of all the crap Marvel gave DC over the years about being owned by a big corporation.

debaoki (Cartoonist): from a licensing standpoint, marvel gives disney a portfolio of properties where they've been weakest: with boys age 8 - 18.

GailSimone (DC Comics writer, "Wonder Woman") I have dealt with Disney several times in the last couple years. I think this will probably be a good thing for Marvel and comics.
