ComicsAlliance Celebrates Tyroctober!

While other sites may be content to bring you Rocktober, Shocktober or Mohawktober, ComicsAlliance is committed to celebrating the things that really matter! That's why this month, we're bringing you 31 days celebrating the Legion's sonic powerhouse with our month-long Tyroctober!DID YOU KNOW...

• Tyroc, whose name means "Scream of the Devil" in the language of his native Marzal island, has the power to alter reality by yelling at it. Seriously. Wikipedia has a list of different things he would yell to make things happen; "IRRRRWWWW!"is apparently "plant manipulation."
• While his costume was modeled after Elvis's Las Vegas era getup, Tyroc himself was visually based on Fred "The Hammer" Williamson, star of Black Caesar and Hell Up In Harlem.
• Co-creator Mike Grell described Tyroc's role in the formerly all-white (and occasionally green or blue) future by saying "Their explanation for why there were no black people [in the Legion] was that all the black people had gone to live on an island. It's possibly the most racist concept I've ever heard in my life."
