As The CW’s Archie adaptation Riverdale begins to take shape, we’ve been keeping a keen eye on the development of the series, from the initial plot synopsis and its bonkers descriptions of classic Archie character, through to the ongoing casting process. Now, we have the most important news yet to share with you… Archie actor KJ Apa has dyed his hair ginger!

We caught our first glimpse of KJ Apa as America’s Favorite Teenager courtesy of the Archie Comics Twitter account, while he was out on location filming for the Riverdale pilot in Vancouver. The show seems to be taking shape quite nicely, and Apa looks the part, especially compared to Fiona Staples’ recent reimagining of the character from last year’s reboot. Given the involvement of Archie chief creative officer Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, it wouldn’t be too surprising to see Riverdale take some cues from the recent reboot, only with more Adderall and twincest, if rumors are to be believed.

For a second glimpse of that new red do (in more subdued lighting), look no further than Apa's own Instagram account, where he shared a picture of himself and actor Ross Butler, who plays Reggie Mantle, getting along at a cast dinner much better than their alter-egos usally do.

The rest of the cast seems to be getting into character with Camila Mendes hanging out with Madelaine Petsch, and both of them looking a lot more like their Archie counterparts Veronica Lodge and Cheryl Blossom. In fact, everything about Riverdale so far suggests an exciting take on the iconic Archie brand, and we’ll be right here to report on any more momentous occurrences, especially if Cole Sprouse starts rocking Jughead’s whoopie cap.
