The 12 Days of Deadpool have offered plenty of goodies to get you excited for the new trailer dropping on ESPN on Christmas Day, and today brings a couple of new photos of shiny and chrome X-Men character Colossus, who clearly died victorious on the Fury Road. 20th Century Fox has also revealed that they’ve tapped a new actor to voice the character, portrayed via mo-cap by Andre Tricoteux.

EW debuted these two new photos of Colossus, who is now voiced by Serbian actor Stefan Kapicic:

Kapicic says he honored the character’s Russian heritage, and recently completed recording lines for the Deadpool film. The actor also explains why director Tim Miller chose to use two different actors to play Colossus:

Tim Miller’s idea of Colossus was to be bigger and stronger than everyone else. So for the motion capture they needed an extremely tall man. I’m 6-foot-4, but he wanted Colossus to be over 7 feet, so they used a stunt double to recreate his height, and he did very good job there. Tim also wanted Colossus to sound as close as possible to the comic book character’s background, so he had me to come in, since my voice was what he envisioned for Colossus, who has an authentic Russian accent. My character’s voice gives him the past history as Piotr Rasputin once you hear him speak. This made him the most authentic to the original idea of the comic book character.

No big scandal here — it seems that although they found Colossus’ perfect body double, Tricoteux just couldn’t nail the character’s voice, so they went with someone who could handle the vocal work but wasn’t tall enough to ride the Deadpool ride.

The new Deadpool trailer will premiere during the NBA on ESPN on Christmas Day. The film hits theaters on February 12.
