For those of you wondering just how the previously announced Ultron and Hulkbuster Iron Man figures would play into the recent release of Disney Infinity 3.0, wonder no more. This upcoming March, Disney Infinity 3.0 will see a new add-on arrive in the form of Marvel Battlegrounds. The play set, which will be offered just like the Toy Box Takeover and Toy Box Speedway, will introduce a new four-player, Marvel-themed brawler into the fray. While it won't follow a similar path as Disney Infinity 2.0's Avengers story, Marvel Battlegrounds will indeed have a narrative, though that's not the most important news.

Joining Hulkbuster and Ultron will be an all-new Captain America The First Avenger figure. Featuring an unmasked Cap in a costume reminiscent of his Avengers: Age of Ultron costume (why call it the First Avenger then?), the figure will come in new pose, have new powers and abilities, and also look handsome as hell. This is as close as we're ever going to get to a Pixar-styled Chris Evans, so soak it in, everyone. He's just as dreamy and Dorito-y as ever, even in digitized form.

We don't know much about how Marvel Battlegrounds will play, but Disney has shared a few details about the storyline for the upcoming add-on. In the play set, Ultron will team up with Loki to steal Asgard's Infinity Stone. To aid in their efforts, the evil duo create a set of robotic Marvel Super Hero duplicates to keep the Avengers, Spider-Man and the rest of the good guys distracted from the real trouble. Marvel Battlegrounds will take players to such amazing locales as Wakanda, SHIELD's lunar base and.... Brooklyn. Well, they can't all be winners.

All the Marvel figures previously available in Disney Infinity will be compatible with the new play set, and there are more undisclosed heroes and villains coming to Disney Infinity 3.0 in the new year as well. If only there were a major comic book convention happening to host a panel where such secrets about the game's future might be revealed. Oh right.

You can get your first look at Marvel Battlegrounds in action during the Disney Infinity panel at NYCC this weekend on Saturday at 4PM. Everyone who attends will get an exclusive figure ahead of its retail release, so godspeed to those of you with the fortitude to wait in line.

Update: You can also now check out a gameplay trailer of Marvel Battlegrounds below.
