How's this for a list of writers on an anthology series: Marjorie M. Liu, Mercedes Lackey, Kelly Sue DeConnick, Rhianna Pratchett, Leah Moore, Tamora Pierce, Blair Butler, Nancy Collins, Meljean Brook, Nicola Scott, Devin Grayson. Those are some, but not all of the writers -- novelists and comics pros alike -- who are going to be contributing to Dynamite Entertainment's new Legends of Red Sonja prestige-format miniseries.

According to a press release from Dynamite, Gail Simone, the writer of the ongoing Red Sonja series, had the initial idea to pull that group together. Simone said:

The idea just took off, as some of my artistic heroes, people like Colleen Doran, Amanda Conner, and Nicola Scott all contributed these gorgeous, eye-popping pieces of art for the book. It made everyone tremendously happy and gave us a wonderful extra kick for our relaunch of this classic character. So when Dynamite told me that the 40th anniversary of Red Sonja was coming up, I thought, "I wonder if we could do the same thing, but with all my favorite female writers?'"

A few fellas will be doing art on the series, too. So far, Dynamite has announced longtime Red Sonja artists Frank Thorne and Jay Anacleto will be contributing covers.
