Following in the footsteps of a restless neighbor who stepped out in "Jack of Fables," it looks like Fabletown's baddest wolf will get a spotlight of his own in this fall's "Fables: Werewolves of the Heartland."

The title was announced a few months back, but Vertigo's Graphic Content blog now has a first look at the original graphic novel's tentative exterior artwork:

Bill Willingham continues to steer his Fableverse with artists Craig Hamilton and Jim Fern handling art on a story that sees Bigby Wolf searching for a new location for Fabletown.

As a reader who has followed the series chiefly through trade paperbacks, I'm pretty excited for an all-inclusive story delivered straight to the shelves and skipping single issues. Plus there's a pretty good chance that Bigby will be fighting werewolves. Probably 100 percent, even. I wouldn't even know how to turn that down.

No pricing details have surfaced just yet, but I don't anticipate the release will retail higher than comparable Vertigo OGNs. Whatever the case, this cover image could have me digging through my old Ghostbusters action figures this weekend to get my wolf on.
