‘Fear The Walking Dead’ Reveals New BTS Images and First Real Footage
AMC’s The Walking Dead spinoff “companion series” Fear the Walking Dead has kept a pretty low profile since the debut of its first teaser, but like the zombie apocalypse, the undead are slowly starting to creep out. A new round of BTS photos offer a look at our stars watching the outset of society’s crumble, while a new AMC promo offers our first real footage.
Entertainment Weekly provided the first official behind-the-scenes photos from the Los Angeles shoot, including director Adam Davidson working with star Cliff Curtis, while showrunner David Erickson confers with female series lead Kim Dickens. Also present in the squeaky-clean looking L.A. photos are The Walking Dead creative bosses Robert Kirkman, Greg Nicotero and Gale Ann Hurd.
And while the brief Fear The Walking Dead teaser we’ve seen only offered a few sparing looks at Los Angeles and the titular menace, a few quick frames from AMC’s latest 2015 promo displays a number of actual shots from the pilot episode.
Thus far of Fear The Walking Dead, The Last Airbender star Cliff Curtis leads the cast as divorced teacher Travis, alongside Gone Girl star Kim Dickens as high school guidance counselor Madison. Also cast in the role of her two children from a previous marriage are Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince star Frank Dillane and AMC pilot Galyntine star Alycia Debnam Carey. Orange is the New Black star Elizabeth Rodriguez, Ruben Blades and Mercedes Mason also round out the ensemble.
The companion series to AMC’s monster smash will follow its predecessor with a six-episode first season, and a second season of regular length already ordered for 2016. Additionally, while the companion series will begin as a prequel to the zombie apocalypse, creator Robert Kirkman has expressed that the two series will eventually catch up to one another. Walking Dead executive producers Kirkman, Gale Anne Hurd and David Alpert will all take part in the new L.A.-set series, while Sons of Anarchy and Low Winter Sun vet Dave Erickson will both co-write and executive produce, Adam Davidson having directed the pilot.
