On sale now from Vertigo is Ghosts #1, a new anthology one-shot produced specifically for the Halloween season. The book features new work from Gilbert Hernandez, Al Ewing & Rufus Dayglo, Paul Pope & David Lapham, Neil Kleid & John McCrea, Toby Litt & Mark Buckingham with Victor Santos, Mary H.K. Choi & Phil Jimenez, Cecil Castellucci & Amy Reeder, and superstar DC Comics writer Geoff Johns in his Vertigo debut with a story drawn by Jeff Lemire. Most importantly, Ghosts contains the final work by Joe Kubert, the legendary cartoonist who passed away in August at age 85.

Before he died, Kubert was commissioned by Vertigo Executive Editor Karen Berger to create a short piece specifically for Ghosts. Called "The Boy and and the Old Man," the Aztecs-inspired story is presented in the book precisely as Kubert left it on his drawing board, fully written and pencilled and ready for ink and digital color. You can read a short excerpt below, as well as preview images from other stories in Ghosts.
