Gotham has been curiously opaque with its Season 3 casting of Bat-reporter Vicki Vale, first describing the character as “Valerie,” where now it seems the truth was somewhere in the middle. Once Upon a Time alum Jamie Chung has landed the Gotham Season 3 role, but with one significant twist on the Vicki Vale we know.

Per TVLine, it seems the initial casting reports for 20-something journalist “Valerie” were accurate after all, adding Chung in the role of Valerie Vale. Inside sources paint the character as aunt to the more recognizable Vicki Vale, describing Valerie thusly:

Gotham Gazette’s newest hire, Valerie is a crackerjack reporter dead set on uncovering the truth behind Indian Hill. Confident and dogged, she will do anything to get the scoop, and soon sets her sights on Gordon, who she believes is the key lead in her story.

Elsewhere, Season 3 will also introduce us to Gotham’s take on Batman villain Jervis Tetch, better known as the Mad Hatter, along with the Tweedle brothers, a recast Poison Ivy, the Court of Owls, Talon, and a more true-to-comics Solomon Grundy than Arrow offered. Lest we forget, a certain laughing madman made a distinctly audible return in the Season 2 finale, and will likely resurface as well.

We’ll learn more of Gotham Season 3 in the coming months, but what other pseudo Bat-characters might Gotham introduce in the next run?
