It won’t be too much longer (November, to be exact) before we see the first trailer for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, but to help tide you over, James Gunn has debuted some new concept art — okay, concept art isn’t a trailer, but this particular image does offer a sneak peek at a particularly ferocious new alien villain battling the core Guardians crew, including a ridiculously adorable Baby Groot.

The new piece of concept art appears in the latest issue of Empire magazine, but Gunn shared the image with his Twitter followers:

So what the heck is this many-tentacled, very toothy alien creature? Here’s Gunn with the answer:

That creature was teased in the footage that Marvel screened at Comic-Con, which also confirmed that Groot will stay baby-sized for quite some time, though he will retain his memories from before.

Unlike the previously revealed concept art, this image doesn’t feature any of the team’s newer members, like Nebula (Karen Gillan) and Mantis (Pom Klementieff), but it does give us a great look at the returning heroes and that very gnarly alien monster.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 stars Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Bradley Cooper and Vin Diesel, along with Elizabeth Debicki as Ayesha and Kurt Russell as Ego, the Living Planet (aka Star-Lord’s dad). Sylvester Stallone will also make an appearance in the upcoming sequel, which hits theaters on May 5, 2017. The first trailer should arrive when Doctor Strange hits theaters on November 4.
