Impact Books, the how-to write and draw comics, graphic novels, manga and fantasy art imprint of F+W Publications, Inc., will once again bunker down at Comic-Con International in San Diego, July 25-29, with author signings, contests, giveaways, portfolio reviews and the return of the popular panel, Impact University: How to Write and Draw Comics & Graphic Novels. The booth number for Impact Books is #1415 and here's what's happening!

This year, the Impact University panel takes place Friday, July 27, at 12:00 Noon, in Room 30CDE. Join some of the biggest names in comics as they teach what it takes to make it in comics and graphic novels. Our star-studded faculty panel this year is writer Peter David (She-Hulk, X-Factor), best-selling author Orson Scott Card (Ender's Game, Wyrms) artist and inker Tom Nguyen (Batman, Justice League Elite) and Comics Buyer's Guide senior editor Maggie Thompson. Plus, best-selling graphic novelist David Petersen (Mouse Guard) will be joining the panel! Attendees will find out the best way to submit their work, learn the dos and don'ts of the business, and participate in a Q&A session.

Once panel attendees learn the ins and outs of the business, they'll be able to show their work to Pam Wissman, editorial director for Impact Books. Pam will review portfolios in the Traditional Portfolio Review Area, on Saturday, 3:00 - 7:00 p.m., Portfolio Review Table A.

Signing at the booth will be fan-favorite writer Peter David, signing copies of his Impact book, Writing for Comics with Peter David. Peter will be at the booth Friday and Saturday, from 2:00 – 3:00 p.m.

Also, attendees can have a chance to win an original piece of art by Tom Nguyen just for signing up for the Impact Books website newsletter. There will be plenty of giveaways, too, such as the Impact University Free Comic Book, DragonArt erasers, pens and postcards!

And the biggest announcement of all! Impact Books is giving unpublished and undiscovered artists a chance to have their artwork featured in an upcoming book! Impact: Rising Stars of Fantastic Art will collect the best 145 submitted unpublished pieces of art for this brand-new book publishing in July 2008! Anyone is eligible to submit his/her best work with no entry fee! Two talented artists' work will be selected for the cover and back cover and will win $1000 and $500, respectively. Everyone published will win a copy of the book! Go to www.Impact-Books.com for complete details and a submission form!
