Spider-Man and Electro are nose-to-nose, Mortal Kombat-style, on the cover of this week's Entertainment Weekly. The magazine, which hits stands Friday, touts a preview of The Amazing Spider-Man 2 set to hit theaters next May. In a quick preview of the preview, director Marc Webb told EW he's much more comfortable now that Spidey's origin story is out of the way.

He said:

People aren’t scared. With the first one I felt it was important to retell that origin story. But that was kind of brutal because people were so familiar with it. Now that the origin story is done? We’re off to the races. It’s incredibly liberating.

The article also confirms, as we all were certain, that the movie will feature Jamie Foxx's Electro, Norman Osborn (Chris Cooper), Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan) and Gwen Stacy (Emma Stone). The book will also continue the thread started in the first movie dealing with Peter trying to solve the mystery of his parents' deaths.

Amazing Spider-Man 2 is set for release May 2, 2014.
