The classic '80s cartoon series Jem and the Holograms has experienced a recent revival thanks to a new series box set, and now Hasbro and We Love Fine are launching a Jem and the Holograms t-shirt design contest, whose judges include CA's own fashion expert Bethany Fong. [Full disclosure: I am also judging another We Love Fine Avengers t-shirt contest along with Marvel's Ryan Penagos.] Known for their vast catalog of stylish graphic tees aimed at fans of properties like Marvel Comics, Star Wars, and Adventure Time, We Love Fine is looking to expand their selection of JEM merchandise with a fan-designed tee.

Entrants will be eligible to not only to see their truly outrageous design featured on official Jem and the Holograms merchandise, but also to win a Jem and the Holograms, Season One DVD and We Love Fine gift certificates, with the grand prize of up to $2,500!

Do you have a sharp eye for glamour, glitter, fashion, and fame? Are you a "Designing Woman" who could create a Misfits tee with "Universal Appeal"? Read more for details on the contest!

GUEST JUDGES

Samantha Newark is renowned amongst fans across the globe as the voice of Jem/Jerrica in Jem and the Holograms. The English-born, American-raised singer has performed all over the world in genres as diverse as country and big-band, performing alongside Johnny Cash, Dolly Parton and the Los Angeles Pops Orchestra, among others. In addition to Jem, she's lent her voice acting to other cartoon classics such asTransformers and Steven Spielberg's feature film Hook. She continues to maintain close ties to the Jem fan community at conventions and online, while performing her own music which has been featured in numerous shows including Gossip Girl, The Vampire Diaries, America's Next Top Model and more. She currently lives in Nashville, Tennessee where she just released her brand new album, Somethin' Good.

Bethany Fong (aka "Betty Felon") is a journalist, an aspiring stylist/designer, and has been a Jem girl since childhood. The show greatly shaped and influenced various aspects of her life from fashion to feminism; she even wrote an academic analysis exploring the feminist aspects of Jem, aptly entitled Jeminism! While she absolutely adores The Holograms, she's definitely a Misfits groupie at heart. Bethany is now the Superheroic Sartorialist at ComicsAlliance, where she covers fashion related to comics and pop culture; she also runs her own popular Tumblr blog entitled Fashion Tips From Comic Strips, focusing on the convergence of comics and fashion. You can follow her on Facebook, and on Twitter at @lesvillainettes.
