The big surprise of Saturday's Cup O' Joe panel was that creators Jeph Loeb and Ed McGuinness, known for their work together on such titles as Hulk and Superman/Batman, will reunite to resurrect Cable, the popular X-Men character who perished in the recent "Messiah CompleX" storyline. Loeb joined Marvel's Chief Creative Officer Joe Quesada to talk to the Comic-Con crowd about the project, which also sees him reunited with a character that he worked on in the early 1990s."Those of you that are longtime X-Men fans –- who I have tremendous respect for –- the book I worked on when I first started at Marvel back when they were on paper was Cable," Loeb said. "He is a character that I love and like all of you was absolutely shocked and terrified when he went down in 'Messiah CompleX.'"

Editor-in-Chief Axel Alonso identified Cable as one of the "breakout" Marvel characters of 2012, along with Scarlet Witch and Hope.

Loeb and McGuinness' Cable will debut in December 2011.
