Last we heard, Jessica Jones showrunner Melissa Rosenberg wasn’t sure if Marvel considered Season 2 in the cards, given an imminent Defenders shoot, not to mention Daredevil Season 2, Luke Cage and Iron Fist in between. Now, Krysten Ritter offers some small hope, also previewing what the big team-up will look like from her character’s reluctant end.

Speaking with The Hollywood Reporter, Ritter curiously implied herself unable to say anything of a second season, though she’d certainly want the opportunity to tell more of Jessica’s story after Kilgrave.

It’s such a tricky thing. I’m not supposed to talk about that. But I think there is lots of story left to tell with Jessica and I really love playing the character. I would love to throw on her boots and leather jacket anytime.

Granted, neither Ritter, nor even Rosenberg are explicit authorities on whether Marvel elects to cram in a second season of Jessica (perhaps ominously, it only took 11 days to announce Daredevil Season 2), the very fact that Ritter was instructed to keep answers vague assures that Marvel is at least keeping the option open.

Should our next glimpse of Jessica Jones arrive with The Defenders however (rather than a Luke Cage appearance), Ritter expressed curiosity as to what might bring Jessica back into the superhero fold, when so much of the character eschewed that lifestyle:

Marvel and Netflix have proven they know what they’re doing. But it will be interesting to see how Jessica Jones fits in with those other guys because she doesn’t want to be a superhero. She doesn’t want anything to do with that. I have no idea how she’s going to be forced to team up with all of them. […]

She has these powers and this innate goodness in her whether she likes it or not. So she’ll be a really valuable asset to the team. She has super strength. She can fly. Those things come in handy. (Laughs.)

We might soon pass a point of no return, that Jessica Jones Season 2 would need to start production to make a 2016 airdate, but might Marvel really bench the character until The Defenders? Will she be comfortable as part of a team, or will Luke be the one to turn her around?
