Kudos to Rebellion for the imminent publication of its 350th issue of Judge Dredd Megazine, the monthly Dredd comic that began all the way back in 1990 (and which might actually be the longest unbroken run of any comic book in these renumbered times in which we live, come to think about it). To celebrate the occasion, venerable Dredd artist Brian Bolland returns to one of his signature characters with a special cover featuring the titular lawman and the fabulous cast of villains that have helped make the megazine a success for 24 years. It's within that spirit of historical observance that Bolland is cheekily riffing on his own great work from Rebellion's past by basing his Megazine cover on an illustration he created for 1985's 2000 AD Monthly #1.

My Dredd knowledge well doesn't yet run that deep, but I'm reliably informed that this cover features, among others, PJ Maybe, Mean Machine Angel and the Angel Gang, the Dark Judges, teenage delinquent Chopper, Otto Sump, the Mechanismo droids, Howler (an alien whose shout could kill), murderous mercenaries the Kleggs, and the alien Raptaur.

By now ComicsAlliance readers should know we're fond of the great work being done with this icon of antiauthoritarianism and his satirical, ultra-violent world of the future. If you're not familiar with it, 2000 AD, Judge Dredd Megazine and their publisher Rebellion are ceaselessly giving new readers easy access points into the Mega-City world. This new issue actually comes with an entirely new set of features, including "Judge Dredd: Dead Zone" by John Wagner and Henry Flint; "Lawless: Welcome to Badrock" by Dan Abnett and Phil Winslade; and "DREDD: Uprise" by Arthur Wyatt and Paul Davidson, a new serial that serves as another sequel to the recent live action film, following the excellent DREDD: Underbelly.
