We’ve known for some time Legends of Tomorrow would travel to “Star City 2046” to meet a future iteration of Arrow’s Oliver Queen, as well as Connor Hawke, both of which made their photo debut earlier today. Now that the first trailer has arrived however, it seems Deathstroke has been confirmed for a return after all - with a twist.

Following Thursday’s “Fail-Safe,” the closing moments of which saw #TeamLegends crash-landing in the “Star City 2046” of next week’s namesake and confronted by a decidedly-not Oliver Queen Green Arrow, the full trailer made one name very clear - “Deathstroke.” Stephen Amell had teased as much in an earlier photo, captioning “old feuds die hard” to some familiar looking armor, but the trailer confirmed as much with a name, a seemingly all-black mask, and a voice not belonging to Manu Bennett’s Slade Wilson.

So then - who might we expect under the armor? One of Slade’s comic children, Joseph or Grant (perhaps likely, given the henchman's black and grey masks)? A former ally of Oliver’s? Perhaps his own son William, given the prominence of that particular storyline in Arrow Season 4? It’s of interest either way, particularly the change in mask color, given that producer Marc Guggenheim previously revealed that Deathstroke was off the table for another DC project.

In the meantime, so reads the full synopsis for February 25 outing “Star City 2046”:

THE TEAM ENCOUNTERS A VERY DIFFERENT OLIVER QUEEN

When a malfunction sends the Waverider crashing into 2046 Star City, our heroes face a startling version of their own future where they never stop Savage (guest star Casper Crump) and never return home. The city is in ruins and overrun by criminals, which thrills Rory (Dominic Purcell). Sara (Caity Lotz) is despondent over the destruction of her home and stunned when she learns what happened to her old friend, Oliver Queen (guest star Stephen Amell).

We’ve still a week away from heading to 2046, but who from the Arrow-verse might serve as our new Deathstroke? Check out the latest Legends of Tomorrow trailer above.
