DC’s Legends of Tomorrow hasn’t had any trouble striking a plethora of different tones, from Guardians of the Galaxy to action epic, and now we can throw Doctor Who on the pile. The latest look at the CW spinoff introduces us to Rip Hunter and the Time Masters, while other intel may expose the chronological big bad glimpsed in other spots.

Be warned of some potential spoilers for the January 21 premiere from here on out, but the latest look at DC’s Legends of Tomorrow reveals the Time Masters of comic lore overseeing Rip Hunter, who doesn’t take too kindly to their apathy against Vandal Savage. Meanwhile, Yahoo identifies the mysterious masked villain from earlier as Chronos, an old Atom villain eventually re-imagined with time-travel tech, fitting for the new series.

So reads the official Legends of Tomorrow description:

When heroes alone are not enough… the world needs legends. Having seen the future, one he will desperately try to prevent from happening, time-traveling rogue Rip Hunter is tasked with assembling a disparate group of both heroes and villains to confront an unstoppable threat – one in which not only is the planet at stake, but all of time itself. Can this ragtag team defeat an immortal threat unlike anything they have ever known?

Set for 15 episodes (to start), thus far we know Legends of Tomorrow will include among its cast Dr. Martin Stein (Victor Garber), Jay Jackson (Franz Drameh), Ray Palmer (Brandon Routh), Hawkgirl (Ciara Renee), Hawkman (Falk Hentschel), Captain Cold (Wentworth Miller), Heat Wave (Dominic Purcell), Caity Lotz, time-traveler Rip Hunter (Doctor Who alum Arthur Darvill), Valentina Vostok (Stephanie Corneliussen) and DC big bad Vandal Savage (Casper Crump).

Legends of Tomorrow will premiere on January 21, but what do we make of the new trailer?
